What is your "Why" for claiming your Hebrew heritage? Maybe you haven't yet and your researching the matter, or maybe you are hunting for arguments to debunk. Whatever your "Why," there are certain criteria that should be addressed. While it is difficult for some to negotiate this topic, there are questions that we can and should ask ourselves. One question would be, "If your identity was hidden, who would be served by you not knowing who you truly are? Also, if you are not claiming your identity, is someone else getting away with identity theft and cultural appropriation?
Before moving forward, one thing should be stated. If TMH has a destiny and a heritage for you that is laden with blessings and favor, YOU WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE IT UNTIL YOU EMBRACE THE "YOU" THAT TMH HAS MADE YOU TO BE! If TMH has a blessing for "You," you will have to stop pretending being someone else in order to receive it! Otherwise, prepare to settle for crumbs in comparison.
Looking Back!
Looking back on a few "incidents," I can recall times when the Hebrew in me was trying to come to the surface. Here's what happened. I was eating breakfast, getting ready to "job" a pork sausage link when I heard from within my inner being, "You are not supposed to be eating this!" I paused for a few, looked a little to the right, and thought, "is this because of cholesterol, is this a heart thing, I'm too young for that!" And yes, I continued to chomp on swine-flesh, thinking it was blessed because I mumbled a prayer that violated the word of TMH - blessing what He disallows. (Isaiah 66:16-17)
I would not come to grips with the depth of that prompt until after I embraced my Hebrew heritage. Perhaps, you have had similar experiences as I have. Such incidents have pointed toward a different revelation of who I am. Perhaps there is a similar revelation awaiting you.
